Zion Communities
admin June 7th, 2010
In short, a Zion Community is a Utopian community or society. It is the type of community which will exist in the Millennial Nation of Zion. In the bible Zion is used to describe both Jerusalem and Israel in general, which John’s book of Revelation makes clear is a type for the heavenly city of God, or archtypical “heaven” where the righteous will dwell with God. Joseph Smith along with many other restorationalists were taught that America was a “Zion”, or choice land reserved by God as a refuge and inheritance for the righteous of the world. In fact one of the LDS Article’s of faith states, “We believe … that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth…”
This section will contain articles explaining the particulars of how “Zion Communities” or Utopian communities can be created and how the amalgamation of those communities will serve as the basis for a millennial empire which will bring 1000 years of peace to the earth.
The principles of a Zion Community and a Zion Nation have been being revealed for thousands of years and were the basis for the republican government of the United States. All that is left is for cities to begin to put into place a few remaining principles which when implemented will abate the forces of urban decay and begin a new era of city building, where communities (and by extension- nations) are pre-planed, and sustainably managed like gardens, instead of being allowed to spring up and haphazardly grow and die like weeds. The key to building the most powerful, sustainable nation in history (Zion), is to put all focus into building small individual Zion communities, and let the nation simply be an amalgamation of its parts; Just as the key to building the most powerful, sustainable culture in history is to put all focus on the family and let the culture be a reflection of that fundamental unit.
Of course there’s volumes more to it, but we hope by reading these articles (when we get around to writing them) the reader will be inclined to connect to the source of all knowledge where they can be taught the lessons that just wont fit on paper.
