The Antediluvian & Millennial Connection
admin June 10th, 2010
Synopsis————————————–
- God reveals his plan little by little according to the faith of his people to receive it.
-The book of Mormon view of the afterlife accords with the simplistic view of Christianity at large.
-D&C 76 adds another tier to that understanding, but is still only a partial understanding (says at end there was much they were told not to write).
-The most commonly currently perceived LDS view combines doctrines taught in Alma as describing conditions before the resurrection (spirit world), and the three degrees of glory taught in the D&C as being eternal states AFTER the resurrection.
-The Celestial Kingdom is indeed beyond mortal understanding. Because of this it only spoken of in symbolic terms in all revealed scripture. It is the Eternal City spoken of in the book of Revelation where God dwells and all are one in heart mind and thought. Think of it as you will, but you will be wrong. My attempt to explain some aspects of it will also be flawed.
-The millennial earth IS the terrestrial kingdom (there will be no Satan or temptation there, only working together to sanctify and prepare ourselves for a final test and Exaltation into a Celestial Kingdom.
-Likewise Fallen Earth IS the telestial kingdom. Those who gain this resurrection will basically repeat their present lives. This is the reincarnation taught by eastern religions. No righteous disciple of Christ who has overcome the law of Justice/Karma and learned the law of Love/Mercy will receive this fate, thus it is not expounded upon in our doctrine but is left to the dispensational heads of lower Shem (Hindu/Buddhism) to reveal & expound. Even in these religions the doctrine has become convoluted. None will be resurrected into lower forms of life (animals, rocks, etc.), nor will they reincarnate within minor cycles.
-Telestial “Earthly” resurrection comes only once per great cycle (except perhaps for special circumstances), no-one is reborn again and again every 100 years each time they die as some eastern religions teach. The keys of the resurrection are held by Christ and his people, they as a priesthood body of governing angels decide with the lower spirit where and when they will be born in the next cycle to afford them the greatest chance to progress while also satisfying the demands of justice/karma.
-Our biblical account of the earth’s 7000 year mortal existence is thus an account of all three degrees of resurrected glory presently available to man on earth. The garden or paradise of Adam representing the Celestial Kingdom or an exalted life with God. The period from Adam to the Flood as well as the prophesied Millennial period from Christ’s second coming to the burning of the world being an account of the earth’s Terrestrial existence & resurrection. And everything between being an account of the telestial resurrection.
The biblical account of the period from Adam to the Fall is an account of the Millennium of a previous cycle (as far as Im beginning to understand it). But there are good reasons why this mystery is taught the way it is. One reason being that it undoubtedly spawns people starting to speculate about who is first and who is last and you get the whole Adam/God theory coming out of the wood-works.
Now in order to get this mystery upon a solid footing, let go through what we know of the Millennium.
1. We know it will last a thousand years, plus a “short time” at the end where Satan will be loosed and the forces of good and evil will fight a final battle just before the destruction of the world by fire.
2. Christ will rule personally on the earth over his people/seed for the thousand years.
3. At the end of the thousand years the “earth” & the righteous will receive their celestial/paradisaical glory. (see 3 Ne:29?, other?)
4. Satan shall be bound from among the righteous because of their righteousness.
5. Righteous mortal men and women who die after the beginning of the Millennium “shall not sleep…in the earth, but shall be transfigured/changed in the twinkling of an eye” (D&C 101:31), and children born in this era “shall grow up until they become old” (D&C 63:51; Isa. 65:20)
6. The devil will have no “power to tempt any man,” being bound because of the righteousness of the earth’s inhabitants, and children will grow up without sin unto salvation (1 Ne. 22:26; D&C 43:30–31;45:58;101:28-31)
7. At the
Similarly lets list what we know about the antediluvian period.
1. We know the antediluvian period lasted a thousand years form Adam to Enoch and the translation of the righteous (city of Enoch/Zion) and then there was a short period where the wicked reigned until the world was destroyed by water.
2. Adam ruled personally on earth over his people/seed for the thousand years he lived.
3. At the end of the thousand years the righteous were translated with the whole city/land of Zion into the celestial kingdom.
4. Satan dwelt with Cain and his people in a land separate from the righteous (ref).
5. From the translation of the city of Enoch to the flood the righteous were translated up to the city of Enoch.
6. The people of the city of Enoch (people of Zion) conquered Satan and become righteous enough to qualify for translation.
7. The
-the antediluvian and millennial eras are both terrestrial in relation to our earth, and both occur at the same time, but it is possible that they may or may not happen on the same planes. One is a descending/falling plane and one is an ascending/redeeming plane; each occurring coincidentally. As the biblical antediluvian falling plane was going on, the previous cycle’s millennium was occurring and somehow the two interact. They may just be two different perspectives of the same plane and time, or they may be two different but interacting planes. Whatever it is, it is a bit complicated and involves transfiguration (dimension shifting) and interaction between planes, which is why little is spoken of it (especially of the metaphysical aspects of it, such as the Nephalim / descensions and interactions with angelic beings, and continuing translations / accessions taking up of individuals and cities) what we have is oversimplified for our childish two dimensional understandings.
-Adam’s sin brought death to the earth? No it brought death to the garden which is where HE & EVE lived, and that portion of the celestial plane of earth that they lived on (where nothing died) fell or was transfigured down to the Terrestrial plane where death set in. Portions of spheres of planets being transfigured up or down is a common occurrence during inter-cycle events, whether they fall down as did the garden, or are translated up as did the cities of Melchizedek and Enoch depends on the righteousness of the people. This can happen to whole planets as well and is done by higher laws of physics when truly massive amounts of energy are blasted at and through the sphere.
-No death during millennium? Note in D&C 77:__ both antediluvian and Millennial times are part of the earth’s 7000 year “temporal” (or temporarily/subject to death) existence. Nowhere does it say there will be no death, however, the righteous will not die but will be translated in groups into the celestial worlds as they are ready. Read (see D&C 63:51; 101:29–31 carefully), only those who have “died in the Lord” will be translated. This holds true for animals and even plants wherein portions of earth (the city of Enoch) will be translated in their entirety. All that is not translated will die a natural death and in doing so will be subjected to rebirth/resurrection in a/the telestial sphere. Adam & Eve died a natural death.
-This suggests that the Adam/Ancient of days in the bible was a/the Christ of a previous Telestial Cycle and that the Christ we know from this cycle will be an “Adam” during our millennium. How can this be since both Christ and the Father were with Adam in the Garden? Here we go again… did I not tell you this would happen? I would just say don’t worry about it, but I’ll try and explain a bit before I do. Realize both Adam and Christ are just titles, which are applied to a myriad of individuals. Thus Paul refers to both “the first man Adam” (the one who fell with eve) and “the last man Adam” (Christ or Jesus). He just as well could have referred to “the first man Christ” as the one who fell, and “the last man Christ” as the one who redeems. One descending and one ascending, a higher and a lower. One finishes what the other starts and vice-versa. The first becomes last and the last becomes fist, and vice-versa. One plays the part of the fall, and one of the redemption, and in truth they both play the part of both. And now that you are probably thoroughly confused I will tell you don’t worry about it. It can only be understood in the spirit because the living allegory is multi-dimensional. You think of Adam or Jesus and think of only one individual or intelligence. But we have revealed to you in Luke that after Christ’s baptism the Holy Ghost descended upon Jesus “in bodily form” and he became THE CHRIST. At that point he was two in one.
Likewise after he completed the at-one-ment he became fully ONE with the father. Likewise everyone who is spiritually begotten of the father follows in Christ’s footsteps in their quest for oneness with both the Spirit and the Father. The scriptural metaphors and symbolism used to teach these principles are teaching man of the multi-dimensional aspect of Spirit descending into form or matter.
It is beyond your understanding, do not spend too much time worrying about it. It probably makes you queasy to think about how one mortal man can be literally possessed by hundreds of devils. There is a balance that must be reached between individuality and the oneness of God. For now just focus on making your temple a dwelling place for the divine spirit and not allowing it to be polluted by the evil one.
All planes of Earth are eternally progressing, the telestial plane of earth included. Thus after earth passes away as by fire and is recreated, the next time around even the fallen telestial plain will be a bit more glorious. Thus Joseph revealed in D&C 76:89 that even the Glory of the Telestial surpasses all understanding. (Not to mention that these terms can apply to both the “spiritual” and “physical” resurrections. Also note that quotes are emphasizing the ambiguous nature of these terms).
-It is impossible to give mortals an accurate history of the “earth” as it would be like an endless choose your own adventure book as different planes and dimensions merge and separate through the eternities. The Bible gives an account of a Terrestrial plane (Adam to the Flood) and its fall and merging with a Telestial plane (being completed about the time of Moses). It was compiled and revealed by a Terrestrial people (under the direction of the Celestial), and thus presents history according to that glory.
-I don’t at all understand the specifics of the processes in play to translate or dimension shift portions of the earth. The entire earth seems simple enough (induction by massive energy fields likely produced from solar flares or supernovas?) , but for individual regions such as the “city” of Enoch or the “City” of Melchizedek (likely more properly the “commonwealth of cities”). The process likely involves the use of the piezoelectric effect utilizing the electrical properties of large portions of the mantle or asthenosphere (berried plutons). Perhaps a localized energy blast would likewise induce a magnetic field, yielding the desired effect. I certainly no longer buy the Newtonian “docking maneuver” or bolide induced fission separation from the earth.
(write an article on dimension shifting… use the one you already have on vortexes.)
-Oaspe is a record of the repeating Telestial Earth cycles. It was compiled by Telestial people in the spirit plain of this telestial world. It gives history from a Telestial perspective by individuals who cannot “see afar off”. Telestial people live under the law of Justice/Karma and have not yet found the straight gate of the law of Love/mercy. The record knows nothing of Christ and gives a very distorted and misleading view of Israel and true Christianity.
Before the revelation of the degrees of Glory given to Joseph Smith in D&C section 76, both the Early LDS Church and the Gentile Christian Church at large had similar views of heaven. This view entailed a knowledge that after one dies, their spirit went to either paradise or prison. Although there were differing views amidst Christianity as to the difference between heaven & hell, paradise and purgatory, most doctrines of the afterlife accorded with the simplistic view given to us by Alma in the Book of Mormon. In chapter __ Alma teaches his son that after death the spirits of all men “return to God” (or better put, to the eternal state of God from wince they came), the spirits of the righteous going to a place of happiness and the spirits of the wicked entering a place of torment/refining; all awaiting the resurrection of the dead where each spirit would be judged and restored to that which they had earned.
With the revelation of the degrees of Glory, Joseph Smith was given further detail concerning the multi-tiered character of the Afterlife. He was shown in vision that there are not only two destinations after death, but three. These three locations were named the Telestial, Terrestrial and Celestial kingdoms; and since this vision was meant by God to build upon the biblical understanding of the afterlife that Christianity already possessed, the names of the kingdoms were likely given to accord with those given by Paul in 1 Corinthians 15.
INCONSISTENCIES
-88:110 says they’ll be time no longer… but 77: says its part of the earth’s 7000 yr temporal existence. Likewise with death.
-Satan is to be bound and not able to tempt during millennium, but he did surely tempted the children of Adam and eve? The temple shows Peter banished him, was he banished at the same time that Cain was banished. Actually banished to another land. In Zion he had no power while the people of Adam finished their work.
-If Christ was to become the next Adam, how could he die, when he had already become a resurrected soul with a glorified resurrected body sitting on the right hand of the ‘Father’. (you’re missing the whole point… “he who descended BELOW all things, ascended ABOVE..”
-Likewise, how could Adam become the next Christ when Christ tells Mary that Adam is his Father. ‘Here is a great mystery, Mary, for in the beginning, my Father descended to the physical plane and lived on it as the first man, Adam’. Would he not have said the great mystery was that “He” himself had descended as Adam, or if he was talking of the obvious fact that Adam is the Father of all mortals, Christ included? Why would it be a ‘great mystery’ unless Christ was trying to say that Adam was the ‘Father’ on whose right had he would sit?
-But also look at the perfection of the symbolism here… “1. The first emanation of the Godhead to the mortal plane was the Parents. The second emanation was the Son. The third emanation is the Spirit. The Parents descended to commence mankind and then ascended back to their place. The Son descended to redeem mankind and then ascended back to the Parents. The Spirit descended to enlighten mankind, but she has not ascended. She animates the Body of Christ on the mortal plane, lifting the members of the Body through gnosis to a place among the Eloheim.”
-Are they two parts of the same essence? One God living on two planes, separated as eve was from Adam’s rib?
-I think that there’s more to this. Its not just the Adam/Christ duality, its the Adam/Enoch (terrestrial), Melchizedek/Christ (telestial), Adam/Christ or Christ/2nd coming Christ (terrestrial/telestial) dualities. Adam and Enoch are higher, Melchizedek and Christ are Lower (terrestrial plane), and yet Enoch and Melchizedek are higher translated/finishers as Adam and Christ are lower descending/preparers. Who is higher, who is lower? Who is First, who is Last? Who is Elias and who is Messiah? Who is Alpha and who is Omega? Who is Jehovah? They all are. The Father and the Son, The First and the Last, the ONE TRUE GOD. All are different aspects of the same ONE God. All are different tokens of the same WORD.
Adam was the Father or Holy Spirit which both descended upon and ascended above Christ. Likewise Christ was the Father that both dwelt within and appeared above Adam. Even the thought of which might be Pre-eminent shows that the student is still drowning in the illusion. The Eloheim are ONE God. One with the Father and One with each-other.
