The restoration of the resurrection

admin June 9th, 2010

Another Insight.

That which is done is flesh, is restored to us in flesh. That which is done in spirit, is restored to us in spirit.

There is a resurrection in the body, and a resurrection from the body. Our reward and punishment for actions done in the flesh, is allotted us after/in the resurrection of the flesh. Our reward or punishment for actions done in spirit, is received through the resurrection of spirit.

In plainer terms. The great “restoration of all things” spoken of by Alma to his son concerning the resurrection where good is restored for good, and evil for evil, occurs upon our physical resurrection during the Millennium (which resurrection will be a process of being born again through a womb for those who were not truly born again of water in this mortal cycle).

This resurrection for the previous cycle occurred from Adam to the Flood, and lasted a little over a thousand years. Those “spiritually begotten” of Christ, being sealed to him with an holy ordinance, will become his literal sons and daughters during the Millennium where he will personally reign over them for a thousand years. At the end of this thousand years, the righteous will be “lifted up” at that last day as was Enoch and his city. All the righteous of that day will be transfigured and whatever “mortal” is left in their bodies will ‘put on’ immortality. Those who had been partially transfigured before that time (City of Melchizedek, Moses, Elijah, John, Three Nephites) will receive their final change (see 3 Ne 21?) as all inherit their eternal glory.

After the thousand years are ended, those who remain will be turned over to Satan who will have been loosed and will be gathered together to be burned as the wicked in the Days of Noah. Thereafter the cycle will repeat and those who have not “become pillars of the most high” being sealed in the kingdom of God to ‘go no more out’ will inevitably fall as did Adam to repeat mortality until they fully learn to discern and chose ‘the good from the evil’.

On the other hand, there is also a resurrection from the body, wherein we are resurrected into higher heavens of the eternal worlds wherein none die. This resurrection is simply a rising in spirit through the degrees of the eternal worlds. As each major Kingdom is stratified into three or seven ‘minor’ kingdoms, spirits can begin to rise their way up through these from the moment of death. Resurrections (risings) from one ‘major’ kingdom to another, however, is only accomplished at specified times at the end of a cycle. Regardless, all these resurrections occur in the immortal realms being fully spiritual. The highest of these spiritual realms (third degree of the Celestial kingdom) can only be entered if one is worthy both body and spirit). In other worlds, we must attain to it both in mortality and immortality. This is why entry is gained only during/at the end of the Millennium.

You might think of existence as dualistic. We have a spiritual existence in the immortal worlds and a mortal existence in this material world. Both are separate and quite divided for lower intelligences; the works, intelligence, and resurrections gained in each remain separate, cycling between each other with limited mutual influence. As one becomes more progressed and raises higher in the heavens the veil between the two begins to drop. This process continues until the two must come into complete harmony and we are ready to truly partake of eternal life IN immortality. To enter the kingdom of heaven and ‘go no more out’.

Understanding how these two existences mutually influence each other is one the keys to ascending. As a parable lets take for example the life of a public servent of some sort; perhaps a politician or judge and his public day life contrasted with his private night life. In the case of a wicked non-progressed soul he may have an important public life where he puts forth the illusion of righteousness being clean cut family men, but at night in his private life he is a whole different person. He drinks, parties and is immoral acting all together like a different person than he makes himself out to be during the day in his ‘public life’. Now the two lives of this individual however different have a great amount of mutual influence on each-other. The fake or illusory “righteous” aspect has an affect upon his night life. (he may use his position to get into certain clubs, or gain certain privileges. He will likely use the style and language he is continually refining as a public servant to achieve his selfish night life goals. Conversely, the poor behavior of his night life will inevitably influence his day job. His hangovers and selfish behavior will influence his daily health and judgement.

Likewise, so it is with many un-progressed souls for their mortal and immortal existences. There are many wicked souls from the lower heavens & hells who come to earth and put forth the illusion of righteousness. They may be a priest or a public servant and perhaps even accomplish much good refraining from debauchery because of the demands of their social roles, but inside they are selfish dark souls destined to return to the lower heavens and hells from which they came. It was the scribes and pharisees of this class that Christ condemned as ‘whitewashed pens’, clean on the outside, but full of dead mens bones. Conversely, there are many highly progressed righteous unselfish soul from the higher heavens who are born into a bad situation and for various reasons puts forth the illusion of wickedness. They may drink, party and be promiscuous but deep within lies a hidden pearl. (Alma the younger and older were of this sort.)

The work of righteousness, is to bring these two lives into harmony and progress them together. It is for the hypocrites to purify their inner man, and for the way-word prodigal son of God to become ‘awakened’ or truly born again to a life of righteousness.

Now the part of this that many don’t understand is the principles of the restoration that Alma tried to teach his son Corianton in Alma 4?. That the acts of the flesh are restored to us in the flesh, and the acts of the spirit are restored to us in spirit. That had Paul or Alma the younger died in their sins, they would not necessarily have been damned to a lower heaven than they came from at death, but would have instead been damned in the resurrection as their mortal sins were restored to them…

Now concerning how these two lives influence eachother,

“may do all manner of sin, but will be destroyed in the flesh” do you see what it saying? Sins of the flesh, in the flesh will be payed for in the flesh… A good man may in a moment of weekness even kill a man, but that doesnt have a large affect on his spirit…

This is so much more enlightened than anything I could have personally have written. Thanks to the contributors.
