It is important to remember that in our research, the calibrated time-lines for geology are much different than the calibrated time-line for archaeology because scientists in these two fields use very different methods to date objects. Archaeologists primarily use carbon dating and dendrochronology (tree-ring dating) for “absolute” dating, and a myriad of absolute and relative dating methods to fill in the gaps. Geologists typically use various radiometric dating methods for “absolute” dating (such as uranium-lead dating and potassium-argon dating to name a few of the many) and they use superposition and common sense observations for relative dating. However as we will see, all of these dating methods are built on various known assumptions.

Archeological Dating Methods

Lets deal with archeological dating methods first.
In order for carbon dating to give valid results, it must be assumed that the ratio of stable carbon (carbon-12) to radioactive carbon (carbon-14) has been at least predictably constant throughout the dating methods accuracy window (about 1700AD to ~40,000 BP). However, there are many known factors which affect this ratio; which by geological dating methods have been shown to vary greatly over time . Carbon-14 is formed from nitrogen-14 by cosmic rays in the upper atmosphere; therefore, any change in the number/intensity of cosmic rays that reach the upper atmosphere alters the carbon ratio [2] . Factors which affect cosmic rays reaching the upper atmosphere include: the amount of solar energy produced by the sun, the intensity of Earth’s magnetic field, and the density of the earth’s cloud cover [3] . The ratio is also affected by the frequency and magnitude of volcanic eruptions which eject large quantities of Carbon-12 into the atmosphere and create dust clouds that block solar radiation [4] . The ratio of carbon-12 to carbon-14 is also affected by the erosion of ancient carbonate rocks; the erosion of these rocks releases carbon-12 into the world’s oceans where it is then released into the atmosphere [5] . The burning of fossil fuels has this same effect, and it is for this reason that carbon dates on objects buried since the industrial revolution give dates known to be historically incorrect.

Scientists know full well about these dating assumptions and have tried to test and mitigate results to account for known inconsistencies. The problem, however is that before about 100-350 BC there are no incontestably valid historical dates which could be used to test and calibrate dated archeological objects. Willard Libby, the father of carbon-dating, as well as many scientist since have tried to date pre-christian era historical objects and match these dates with written histories. The problem with this approach however is that the second-hand written histories themselves (Manetho, Herodotus, Josephus, etc) are highly suspect after the Egyptian/Persian/Greek antiquity debates, not to mention the difficulty of correctly matching an artifact with what is spoken of in the written histories. Scientist have also used accessory dating methods such as dendrochronology where tree rings are counted and correlated to try and substantiate and correct carbon dates. The problems with this method should be obvious to anyone who takes the time to scrutinize it closely. Trying to match burn, thinness or thickness patterns on assorted trees found buried in different areas of relatively large geographical areas produces tentative results where the scientific method undoubtedly becomes replaced with the actual method through circular reasoning (see Actual Method).

In our research of comparing carbon dated Mesoamerican cultures and trends with Book of Mormon dates, we have found that carbon dates grow increasingly old before the time of Christ (see tables throughout paper). Following the time of Christ the trend seems to reverse. If our proposed dates are correct, then before the time of Christ there must have been a smaller ratio of carbon-14 to carbon-12 in the atmosphere then there is currently (see note). For the trend to reverse following the time of Christ would require a large amount of carbon-12 to be introduced into the atmosphere between A.D. 50 and A.D. 400 and the ratio to then re-stabilize between A.D. 400 and the 1700′s.

Remember that these ratios have been highly unstable for the last 200 years since detailed measurements began to be taken– an instability attributed entirely to the industrial revolution. But is there evidence that perhaps these ratios have been highly unstable in the past; and that scientific tests done to prove ancient stability are flawed? Using “geologic” dating methods (the assumptions of which shall be treated later) which give results in the millions of years before present, we find that ther is overwhelming evidence that the sun was dimmer in ancient times than it is today [6] , which means less carbon-14 would have been formed anciently. Scientists also believe that the intensity of earth’s magnetic field was stronger in ancient times [7] , so again, less carbon-14 would have been formed as a stronger magnetic field diverted more cosmic rays from the earth [8] . Additionally, it is possible that there was less nitrogen in the ancient atmosphere because of microscopic organisms called cyanobacteria. These organisms “fix” nitrogen, taking it out of the atmosphere by metabolizing it. They are one of the few organisms able to do so. [9] Research shows that cyanobacteria were much more numerous anciently than they are today [10] . In fact, during the Cretaceous era of the past, carbon dioxide levels and thus the ratio of Nitrogen/C14 production to stable carbon 12 were known to be nearly ten fold what they are at present.

These factors provide good reason to doubt the underlying assumption of carbon dating itself… which if you’ll remember is that the ratio of C14 to C12 has been more or less (at least predictably) stable for the dating methods accuracy window (about 1700AD to ~40,000 BP).

The reversal of dates around A.D. 50 is likely connected to the great destruction that occurred at the death of Christ. As discussed previously, these destructions involved extensive volcanism [11] . It also caused the catastrophic draining of many ancient inland seas and a subsequent cooling which eroded immense amounts of ancient carbonate sandstones and limestones in the West [12] . Together, these events likely introduced huge amounts of carbon-12 into the atmosphere reversing the trend for a short period [13] .

Despite the problems inherent in carbon dating, however, it is still invaluable in providing relative dates, and by correlating these relative dates with a more sure scriptural dating foundation, the truth begins to become self-evident.

Geologic Dating Methods[This section of this article is under construction ... ]

Geologist use a slew of dating methods which very greatly from carbon dating. However, the same base assumption of uniformitarianism underlies the validity of their results.

In short, geological dating methods are based on the assumption that nuclear stability doesn’t change. In every age man likes to believe we are at the epitome of learning, but as past generations look back on follies such as Lord Kelvin and the ancient theories on solar heating, Aristotle’s geocentric models of the solar system or even Newtonian style particle micro-physics, etc something in the back of our minds wonders what theories we may be embracing that might be just as incorrect or incomplete.

To get to the bottom of how geologic dating produces incorrect dates we must go to the very fundamentals of the rules of physics which govern atomic decay. It is not an issue to be resolved by geologist, it is an issue lying in the realm of quantum physics. Understanding why geologic dating method produce skewed results requires an understanding of the principles of physics governing space/time and the multi-dimensionality of matter which have only begun to be be explored or understood (see string theory). This includes principles underlying the Unified Field Theory which have not yet been revealed to Man.

To be able to grasp the truth of the issue at this premature point in history we must rely on faith in the scriptures as we explore the specifics of how the earth was “transfigured” in ancient times in the same way it is to be “transfigured” to begin the millennial era. It will be density shifted from one state or plane to another. The change may occur to the entire solar system at once, as the sun goes through its cyclical energy transformation remotely similar to the 11 year magnetic reversal. These changes are brought about by “higher” governing celestial bodies (in our case possibly a brown dwarf binary pair to our sun, currently out of phase with our physical plane). Much like man and all matter the earth and solar system pass through differing energy states through time. The scriptures use terms such as “heaven”, “resurrection” and “temporal existence” to describe the same phenomena that science currently refers to as “higher dimensions/strings” and “dimension or density shifting”. The principles are currently poorly understood by science, but God and individuals who have gone through this process and fully understand the physics behind it have revealed enough to us through both scripture and science that we should be able to grasp the basic principles behind how it all works.

The cause for departure of the Z number from a linear trend is not fully understood, but we suggest it changes over time with variations in larger astrophysical principles. In the same way that there are both predictable cyclical events and unpredictable erratic catastrophes on earth such as the passing of the seasons or 100 year floods, there are also both predictable and erratic events in the heavens. The notion that some uniformitarian scientists currently hold that there are 10, 100 & 1000 year floods and catastrophes on earth and yet not significant 1000, 2100 & 7000 year astral catastrophes which effect the whole earth is not only historically unfounded but scientifically inconsistent. In our solar system and galaxy there are major and minor cycles which completely change our world as we know it. Some of these minor cycles affect the earth’s weather and magnetic field strength. Some affect the suns solar radiation and gravitational potential. Still others affect the earth’s distance from the sun, energy state, nuclear stability and polar axis. Unfortunately, because some of these events affect nuclear stability scientist do not see their true nature in the geologic record. Cyclical events such as magnetic field reversals appear entirely erratic. Alternating ice ages are not seen to correspond with the axial shifts that caused them. and planetary interactions which affect the earth’s rotational inertia causing crustal displacement are seen only as long lasting orogenic pulses.

The most significant major cycle brings about the total destruction of certain densities of the “physical plane” (and lower spiritual planes) of the earth (but not its more rarefied/heavenly planes). It is this which is spoken of by the prophets when they say “the heavens and earth shall pass away, and there will be a new heavens and a new earth” (Isa 65:17, 2 Pet 3:13, Ether 13:9, D&C 29:23–24), . The last major cycle occurred with the (re)creation of this earth and the next will be when the earth “passes away as by fire” (Ether 4:9, D&C 43:32). Many cultures believe that these cycles rotate between destruction by fire and destruction by water. At any rate, the “fire” cycle of the event occurs when the physical properties which hold matter together in a given plane or density are reversed (in a sense). At that point the atoms loose their attractive “glue” on all levels and in essence fall into solution like salt being poured into water. (It must be remembered that at their most fundamental level atoms are not particles but reinforcing and canceling waves). It is the change that will come about in the functions of these waves which will cause all matter to essentially fall apart or disappear on a density or plane. However, as all matter on all planes is ruled by or a “shadow of” that which lies on a higher/ ‘less dense’/ ‘more rarefied’ plane, the lower plane world will then be presently recreated, in the same way that a high angel or God can come to earth and nearly instantly clothe their higher body in the elements of that lower plane. (It is somewhat like a magnet pulling iron filings out of the dirt but on a sub-atomic level.) The newly created or “resurrected” world, being a “shadow” of the higher “spiritual” creation then proceeds to progress or “grow up” after the pattern which rules it, which is the same pattern which existed on the previous planes. Thus it is “like unto the old, save the old have passed away, and all things have become new.” (Ether 13:8–9).

The day will come when we understand the physics behind transfiguration and translation. The change of matter from a “spiritual” state to a “material” or physical plane and vise-versa. We will understand the multi-dimensionality of space-time and the universe. And we will experience first hand the transfiguration of the earth, where the physical laws we hold to be inviolate (such as the speed of light) change before our eyes. We will see the “earth pass away” and a new heaven and a new earth presently appear in multiple densities/planes. In that day we will understand the laws of nuclear stability and how they change over time. In short we will look back at our scientific understanding today as childish, in the same way we look back at the geocentric scientific understanding of the middle ages and almost laugh.

It is a combination of these changing cyclical events (times and seasons) which has “blinded the minds” of the truth seeking scientists of our day. But by rejecting a literal bible time-line, they have not understood God’s “marvelous workings” (D&C 121:12) But the times of the Gentiles is drawing to a close, and the time of the restoration of Israel is approaching, when God will show his people, a people who have not rejected the sure foundation of Christ and his scriptures as secular society has done, how all of what scientists have discovered proves his word and teaches us important lessons to aid us in our eternal progress.
