Hi Lance,
Thanks SO much for this super plug-in! Like yours, my site is “scholarly,” and this slick feature makes it ever-so dignified–just like Wikipedia!
The bad news is that I’m a print designer with little knowledge of web code–a clueless WP newbie who jumped straight into PHP/CSS Deep Water. I can follow directions, so I managed to get it working with the default settings.
Your description says that it’s possible to omit square brackets from the text references. Since I already use square brackets for things like terminology definitions and the years of someone’s lifespan, I prefer “naked” references that look like the print style convention.
Duh… How can I do this? What file should I edit, where can I find it, and exactly how should it read?
Thanks again, Anna
P.S. I just sent you a well-earned donation. Sorry it’s so small–I’m a low-income senior, and it’s all I can afford for such a valuable asset to my “web presence.” I hope your plug-in work earns as much for YOU as it may for me!
Hey Anna, thanks for the donation… you are so nice. If I understand you correctly, all you have to do is go to the “JQ Footnotes” section of your “settings” in the back-end of your WordPress blog and change “Footnote Ref Marks” from “[ and ]” to just ” and “. Hope that helps! If you have any other questions let me know and I’ll do my best to help!
